Project objectives

In 2021, Apple announced its entry into the Bahrain market with the Apple Pay system. Bahrain Credit, one of the leading banks in the region, made a decision to support Apple Pay wallet for its cards. In order to do this, Bahrain Credit was searching for a reliable technology vendor, with strong expertise in building HCE tokenization solutions before, particularly integrated with Apple Pay, and that also was Mastercard certified. Livord was chosen by Bahrain Credit Bank in an open tender process among 3 other competitors.

Offered solution

We offered our standard solution for tokenizing Mastercard cards and delivering them to the Apple Wallet, based on our Cloud Based Tokenization Platform. For integration with Apple Wallet, Cloud Based  Tokenization Platform offers SDK for iOS to add in-app provisioning requests to third-party iOS mobile applications. Using in-app provisioning, iOS developers can add a button to their mobile apps for adding cards to Apple Wallet directly from the app.

Within this project, Livord supplied Cloud Based  Tokenization Platform core module for server-side SDK management and remote token management in MDES server via API, and iOS SDK itself to be integrated into Bahrain Credit mobile banking app. Livord team also provided full support during SDK integration and project end-to-end certification in Mastercard.

Project results

Bahrain Credit became one of the major banks that launched Apple Wallet support at the Apple Pay launch event in 2021 in Bahrain. All Bahrain Bank Imtiaz cardholders who use Apple smart devices are now able to use the Apple Pay service to carry out a contactless payment transaction using Apple Wallet in their iPhones or iWatches.
